Curator of Zhang Xiong Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Chen Jiaxin and famous artist He Jiaying
On Dec.15, 2014, the film team of Zhang Xiong Art visited traveled to Beijing to interview famous contemporary artist He Jiaying.
He Jiaying was born in 1957 in Tianjin. In 1977, he was admitted into the Department of Painting of Tianjin Fine Art Academy to study Chinese painting. After graduation in 1980, he stayed in the Academy to teach. He used to be a member of 9th, 10th and 11th national CPPCC. He is Vice- president of China Artists Association, a master supervisor of Chinese National Academy of Arts, Vice- president of Contemporary Fine Brushwork Society, Director of He Jiaying Fine Brushwork Institute of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Honorary President of Tianjin Academy of Painting, and Honorary Curator of Tianjin Art Museum.
He used to be granted the awards of “National Young or Middle-aged Expert with Remarkable Contributions ”, “Literary And Art Worker With Good Reputation In Both Morality And Skills ” by China FLAC and Literary And Art Talent of “Four One Path” by Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. He is good at fine brushwork painting of figures. Representative works include Mountain Field, 19 Autums, Women in Mizhi, Sour Grape, Haunting at Mawei Hill, Dark Autumn, Mullberry Dew, Rest of Dance, Yang Kaihui, etc..

At the beginning, He Jiaying painted free-style painting but he also loved fine brushwork very much. His first fine brushwork is Street Office Director. In 1983 he created Mountain. In 1990, he created the most representative work Dark Autumn. The aesthetic appearance and depiction of the figure’s mood won him praise in the art circle. His maiden series like Rest of Dance, Heart Talk, Dawn•Dew •Mulberry and Early Spring touch the audience’s heart immediately like poems.
He Jiaying believes that the most beautiful thing in the world is the simple interior beauty. His female paintings are all presenting such beauty. He has changed the delicate and slumping style of figure painting since Ming and Qing dynasties with sound shaping and created an quiet, refined and elegant artistic conception.
